Boba Fett – Who Could Play Him?

Hello, this’ll be my first post here on The Cantina Cast! Quick introduction: My name is Andy, I’m 20, Irish, a college student and an aspiring comic writer….Oh yeah, and I’m obsessed with Star Wars and have been from a young age. I love everything about the galaxy far, far away:  the movies, shows, comics and most importantly, the fan-base (We are passionate). I even have my share of Star Wars Tattoos. If you want to know more you can find me on the About Us Page, or you can follow me on Twitter

Now, for why I’m really here. It’s an awesome time to be a Star Wars fan! Well, it’s always awesome to be one, but even more, now. We are getting a new trilogy, along with a TV Series, an abundance of Comics, Novels, Games and Merchandise. Along with this, we will be getting some Spin-Off movies! The first of these Anthology movies has already been confirmed, ‘Rogue One’ is set to be released next year and will tell the story of the Rebels stealing the Death Star plans. Rumours, however, have stated that the second movie is planned to be a Boba Fett movie; something fans have been craving since we first met the green clad Mandalorian. Now I’m here to make up a list of 4 potential actors who could play Boba Fett efficaciously.

Many would make the case that Temuera Morrison could play Boba, since he played Jango and the other clones. But Temuera is 54 right now, so he is coming along in the years and the rumour states that the movie will be about Boba’s Origin/Early Years. Now obviously using tech and makeup they could make Temuera look young enough, but this is the perfect time to bring in a new actor and make him Boba, breathing new life into the warrior. Also you could make the case that Boba is different from the other clones as he didn’t have advanced aging, you could then say, through living his life fully and going through things like his teenage years, his appearance turned out differently.

Now, for the list, DISCLAIMER: Many people could play Boba, but since Temuera is of Maori descent, I decided to compile this list of Maori actors. Also this is in no particular order.

Manu Bennett:

Manu Bennett is probably the most decorated and proficient actor that will appear on this list. He is best known for his role as Azog the Defiler in The Hobbit Movies, Crixus in Spartacus and Deathstroke in Arrow. The common denominator in these roles, is that all these characters are completely fearless badasses and the main reason behind this is Bennett’s ability to create an intimidating, cocky and lovable personality. Now Manu is 45 too, so he’s no cub but I believe his acting ability and overall badassery would make him the perfect pick.

This man reeks of Badass

Julian Arahanga:

Arahanga has had some known roles, such as Apoc in The Matrix. Most notably however he played Nig Heke, in Once Were Warriors and the sequel What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?, the reason these roles are his most notable is the fact that he played the rebellious son of Jake The Muss, played by no other than Mr.Temuera Morrison. The similarities between both actors is evident in the movies and I would have no doubt that Julian could take on the role of Boba Fett and once again play a ‘son’ of Temeura. The only problem is that Julian has not a acted in a feature length movie since 2007, last acting in a short in 2011, he has dedicated all him time to being a Director since 2008, but a role as illustrious as this may persuade him to move from behind the camera back in front of it.

Julian is probably the least likely.

Daniel Logan:

Daniel Logan is the most logical choice for the list. Why, you may ask? He has played Boba before. Yes Daniel is the actor who played young Boba Fett in Attack of the Clones, he has also done the voice work for Boba in The Clone Wars TV Series. Logan is only 27 so he is young enough to take on an early Boba Fett, and maybe even a series if the film is a hit. Daniel hasn’t done much acting since he was young but he is making a comeback after appearing in an episode of Star Trek Continues, and he is poised to appear in two new movies, so taking on this role may help him get his career back on track.

There isn’t many pictures of Daniel online.

James Rolleston:

James Rolleston is a young and upcoming actor, at the young age of 18, he has a massive career ahead of him. He has already made a name for himself in New Zealand appearing in some big hits such as Dark Horse and critically acclaimed Boy. James has some great acting ability and could definitely take on such a demanding role. The fact that he is so young would also mean he could play the role in follow up movies/series’. As said before he has only appeared in New Zealand productions but is hoping to ‘make it’ in Hollywood and this movie would help him as much as any.

Slick Suit.

So there’s the list! Of course, that is only a fraction of the actors who could play Boba Fett. So I want to know, who would you like to see play the malevolent and merciless Mandalorian?? Let me know in the comments below or on Twitter
