*Ahsoka’s Design Changes From Concept to Rebels*
The character of Ahsoka Tano has had many design changes since her introduction in Star Wars: The Clone Wars; just over 8 years ago. Has it only been 8 years?!
Concept Stage
According to Lucasfilm’s Pablo Hidalgo via Twitter, “George (Lucas) came up with her first. Dave (Filoni) then defined it with him.” Throughout the concept design process, Anakin’s Padawan was always “gonna be a teenage girl”.
Introductory Design in Star Wars: The Clone Wars
When Ahsoka is introduced in early 2008, she is shown wearing a tube top with a skirt, white leggings and tall boots. She is also carrying a single green colored lightsaber.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Season 3 Redesign
In the season 3 episode, Heroes on Both Sides, Ahsoka’s design included a less revealing outfit with a longer skirt and fancier leggings and boots. She is also carrying two green lightsabers.
Star Wars Rebels
At the end of Season 1 of Star Wars Rebels, Fulcrum is revealed to be a grown-up Ahsoka Tano. Her design is very mature and includes pattern changes to her facial marks and lekku. Her outfit is similar to the one she wore in the later seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars except with more leather material and in different colors. She is still carrying two lightsabers, but they are now white, which indicates her lack of affiliation with either the Jedi or the Sith.
Personally, I love how each design change brings something new to this character. Hopefully, we will continue to see more of this character and any other design changes in the future.
So what do you think of the different Ahsoka designs since she was first introduced?
