**This article may contain spoilers for those who have not yet viewed the trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.**
Today, April 7th, Lucasfilm released the first for the upcoming: ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘ on Good Morning America and once again, Star Wars has imploded the internet.
Unfortunately for me, I was sitting at my desk and unable to watch the official airing [I know, so sad, but I’m sure I wasn’t alone]. Of course, that didn’t stop my phone from blowing-up with multiple notifications, but I digress…
“This is a rebellion, isn’t it? I rebel.”- Jyn Erso
Jyn Erso? umm … Wow! Have to admit, the casting for anything Star Wars related keeps getting better and better, and this feisty rebel portrayed by Felicity Jones is no different; impressive. Most impressive.
For the first time, in a Star Wars trailer, the dialogue gives a lot of direct clues as to who this character is and will become — most gratifying for any Star Wars fan [in my opinion]. And on another positive note, this female “lead Role” is not overly sexualized, which is becoming a trend for the galaxy far, far away.
We also get to see a familiar face and I, for one, was most pleased; Mon Mothma. As Chancellor and the leader of the Alliance, Mon Mothma seems to be at the prime of her career and it’s quite empowering; a joyous homage to the original character.
Of course, with every new faction of Star Wars we are introduced to new faces and Rogue One is no substitute. On both sides, Imperial and Rebel Alliance alike, there are “awing” characters to behold in utter wonderment. Even one of them fancies a cape, a white suited one at that — with a subtle resemblance to that of an unforgettable EU/Legends character [*cough*Admiral *cough* Thrawn]. And also, a dark cloaked entity … who kneels ever so submissively … I wonder who that could be?
No matter who they are or how the story plays out, I’m anxiously excited to find out one thing …
“If you continue to fight, what will you become?”- dialogue from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
